As of October 8th, 2024, LinkedIn will retire the gold Community Top Voice badge for contributions to Collaborative Articles. This decision raises some interesting questions about the platform's direction.

Recently, LinkedIn shared their rationale behind this decision. They noted that since the launch of collaborative articles, the platform has seen increased engagement and community interaction. However, maintaining high-quality standards for the Community Top Voice badges has been challenging. Currently, these badges are awarded automatically to contributors, rather than through a manual review process by the LinkedIn team.
As a result, starting October 8, 2024, the gold Community Top Voice badge will be retired, and contributors will no longer earn these badges automatically. However, the blue Top Voice badge program, which is invitation-only and led by LinkedIn’s editorial team, will remain unchanged.
For those holding a gold Community Top Voice badge, it will expire within 60 days from the date it was awarded. Those who earn a badge on October 8, 2024, will have it until December 7, 2024.

I believe it is. Here’s why:
