Can a Product Manager deliver an end-to-end product?

By "end-to-end," I mean taking an idea from inception through to shipping the final feature—whether that involves using no-code tools or coding. Initially, I was unsure about whether a Product Manager could handle this comprehensive process. However, Shravan Tickoo bhaiya surprised us during the eighth week of our Product Management learning journey with the challenge of Productathon Week.

Product Manager

In this challenge, we were tasked with shipping a working MVP within just five days. We were divided into teams of nine, with a rule that no more than four members from the same group in the first seven weeks could be in the same team. Our team brainstormed several ideas, including:

  1. A solution for foreign tourists visiting India to help them understand the culture, buy tickets for monuments online, and find trip guides.

  2. A social media platform for individuals who have recently moved to a new city and lack social connections.

  3. A pet care application.

We chose to develop a pet care application. Our platform aims to raise awareness about pet care and health through blogs and to connect pet owners with pet walkers. We split the application into two main components:

  • Admin Team: Responsible for writing and managing the blogs.

  • Pet Owners and Pet Walkers: Responsible for registration, sign-in, and managing services. Pet owners can select pet walkers, while pet walkers can register and toggle their availability.

Completing this project within such a tight deadline made me realize that a Product Manager can indeed drive an end-to-end product development process. From ideation and feature brainstorming to delivering an MVP, a PM can orchestrate the entire journey.
